8th Degree Black Belt. Certified Kung Fu San Soo Master.
Kung Fu San Soo is a Chinese martial art rooted in the Tsoi Li Ho Fut Hung family system, designed for practical combat rather than performance or competition. Its techniques originate from ancient military applications and focus on ending encounters quickly and effectively.
The art was brought to the United States by Chin Siu Dek (Jimmy H. Woo), who opened the first San Soo studio in El Monte, California in 1959 and taught until his passing in 1991.
Rhonda began training in San Soo under Master Bill Hulsey in 2001, returning to his studio in 2008 after a brief break. She earned her Master’s Certificate in 2018 after more than a decade of dedicated training. A San Soo purist, she teaches in the traditional Hulsey style, emphasizing windmills, leverages, and a structured lesson-based approach, and continues the lineage through online courses that make authentic San Soo accessible to students worldwide.
In addition to teaching Kung Fu San Soo, Rhonda is the author of the Kung Fu San Soo White to Yellow Belt Lesson Book, published in 2021. This 107-page instructional guide covers Ah Soo 1–21 and Beginner Belt lessons 1–12, featuring detailed explanations and step-by-step photos for each technique.
The book was created to preserve the traditional Hulsey method of San Soo, and serves as a comprehensive reference for students learning the foundation of the art. Drawing from more than a decade of training and teaching experience, Rhonda designed the book to provide clear, lineage-correct instruction for practitioners seeking authentic San Soo material outside of a physical studio.
Today it remains one of the few published resources dedicated specifically to the early-belt curriculum of Kung Fu San Soo and continues to support students around the world in developing practical, real-world proficiency in the art.
